The new GAL!

Welp, I think C told me his first lie today. Also, D lied to my husband yesterday and deliberately went behind my back. Kids are so bad!

Other than the whole lying incident, today was basically uneventful and pretty decent. Days like today make me question my decision to put the kids in to daycare. Baby slept beautifully and was happy and smiley, both of the boys took 3+ hour naps which is unheard of. They were mostly well-behaved, we sang songs, pretended, and read books and just hung out. I got plenty done, enough that this weekend should be pretty easy as far as household chores go. And the house is kind of picked up, which is always a pleasure. I even had some time to read a few chapters of a book!

But there were other days this week that were nightmare days. I could handle nightmare days a few times a month...but not like 3 a week. Le sigh!

The boys' new GAL came over today. She was....abrasive. And very pro-reunification. Which I get is the point, but not at all costs. The baby was asleep when the GAL arrived, and as she was leaving the asked if she could see her. I heard M on the baby monitor making some little noises, so I told the GAL I'd go get her since it sounded like she was waking up. Well, she followed me back to our bedroom where the baby sleeps in a pack-n-play. Our room was kind of a mess, which is embarrassing but let's face it - people don't normally just waltz into our bedroom besides us, know what I mean? It's kind of a personal place. Anyway, that in and of itself was kind of weird. Then the baby had some boogers on her nose when she woke up - she has a bit of a cold and when she sleeps she gets boogers because her nose is runny and all that. The GAL was all "Oh can you clean her up?" and so I grabbed a tissue because i thought the GAL was on her way out the door. I was trying to be polite and hang around, I mean I thought she was just going to say "Hi baby!" and then head out the door. She was like "I think a warm wash cloth would look better." Then she told the baby "We're going to make her work a little harder so you can breathe! We are doing everything we can do get you back to your mom..." blah blah blah. So now I feel like the GAL thinks I'm like a terrible person or something because the baby had boogers on her nose and I didn't want to abandon her with the GAL in our bedroom to get her cleaned up right away. It's so dumb, I know. Just...ugh!

She is one of those people that asks you a question, then interrupts you as you are answering so you feel like she is not listening to you at all. I liked the boys' last GAL, who was kind of a mix between a grandpa and Santa Clause. This GAL I also had a bad experience with when I was on the FCRB - I doubt she remembers me, but I remember her! :) :) :)

Anyway, that's the latest. I am excited for Easter - I bought the boys a bunch of sweet stuff like 2 months ago and I am excited to give it to them!!!! :) I also bought eggs and candy so we can do an easter egg hunt, either tomorrow or Sunday whichever day has the nicest weather I guess. Yay!

  3. You see, this makes me mad! I wondered aloud "is ANYONE on their side? Anyone? or did they just ask them to care for a family of children so they could tear them down a few times a month..." Hmph. If anyone is actually looking out for you guys, I'd tell them about this encounter. Aside from being an onslaught of passive agression, it was disrespectful, rude, and ignorant of the year+ of care you've given these little ones. What a slap in the face.

  4. My daughter's GAL was the same way - but in the end she really did want what was best for K and realized it was being adopted by us. There is so much pressure on these GALs to get it right in a short period of time - just be as cordial as you can and play the system when needed :)
