Appointment!

Welp, had a follow up baby appointment today. Everything looked good I guess. I've only gained 2 pounds in the last 4 weeks so I am OK with that. Baby's heartbeat was 150.  She showed me a picture of what a baby looks like at 14 weeks - it looks HUGE compared to what it looked like only 4 short weeks ago!  And it looks like a real baby.  She said she wants to wait until 20 weeks to have the next ultrasound, so that will be in mid-November sometime.  I guess at some point I have to make up my mind on if I want to find the sex out ahead of time or not. I want to wait until birth but I just don't know if I can!  We aren't getting any kind of genetic testing or anything like that, so the 20 week scan will be our next change to see the baby.

You guys. I have a baby growing in my belly. Can you believe how crazy that is???  I am still trying to wrap my brain around it. I mean, I know he or she is in there. I've known for over 2 months now. But with every appointment it is becoming more and more real - in 6 months, give or take, (and Lord willing), we'll be bringing home a baby! Our very first, very own, baby!  Can you believe it? I can barely believe it.  It's so strange to think about having a baby that has never known another mother and father, one we don't have to worry about court dates or termination trials or if they will be returned to their "real" parents.  I realize all these things are "normal" but we just never have gotten to experience normal yet.

I know anything could happen still, I know babies are born still every day and pregnancies are lost in the second and even third trimesters.  But at this point I'm pretty much over being worried and just enjoying this time in my life.

  1. Trying to convey my happiness for you. I can't really come up with the words. We thought I would never have children. We took drastic steps and nothing went well, and still, my body carried 2 babies. I know the feeling of being amazed that your body is actually doing it!
