I'm wearing a baby
It's true. And I got her into the Moby all by myself, thank you very much! All due to the generous loan and tips from my dear friend Melissa. I changed two diapers while wearing it, fed two boys, fed myself (only a tiny bit, yes I'm still hungry but this is my blogging time!), got the kitchen sort of cleaned up, and even put both boys to bed whilst wearing the baby. Nary a cry from any of them! And Melissa, you will be happy to know that after her second bottle today she barely spit up at all. Hopefully I got all the kinks worked out. :)
We ventured out of the house today to go to a toddler play group, only because Melissa was there to help. I simply do not have enough arms to do this on a regular basis, I think. At least, not alone! The little boys are not obedient enough to stay right by me when we are getting out of the car, and I've only got one free hand now with baby. I'm going to test some things out, such as:
a. leaving the baby seat in the car and wearing the baby while out and about, leaving one free hand for each boy
b. putting the boys directly into the double stroller, and pushing with one hand while holding the baby in her car seat (for long walks, and to MUMs tomorrow)
And I'm sure there are many other options. Option B is obviously the best (only?) option for when C is having tantrums and refusing to walk. He has been a really good boy today and I told him so. I don't know if he has entered into Big Brother mode (if there is such a thing!) or if he's just having a good day today. We will soon find out though!
Bio mom canceled all the visits today. Kind of strange. She knew that today would be my first day with Baby M. Part of me is wondering if she wanted me to FAIL and so didn't want me to have any time to catch my breath or take a break (which is what visits are for me, honestly). But I'm sure she just had something come up or something.
I'm not saying this is easy, but so far today has been easier than I expected. Really. Y was cranky but I think just because he was tired. And I changed 3 poopy diapers in the span of about 10 minutes. Try not to be too jealous. :)
I kinda like this baby thing. :)

I'm so glad that your first day is going so well! You are a natural at this parenting thing. I can't wait to meet baby M and see the big brothers again. Doesn't Y seem like a GIANT now that you have such a tiny baby? I remember each time we brought home another baby the other kid(s) seemed HUGE!
ReplyDeleteLove you!
mom
I can't say it enough - you rock! Call me when you get to MUMS and I'll meet you in the parking lot if you want hand with your brood.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I was HONORED to hold the tiny bundle that you were presented with only today. You were so generous to let me come over and steal a couple snuggles. Thank you!
p.s. I vote option A for tomorrow - if you wear her during MUMS I doubt she'll make a single peep (oh, and bonus, you won't have hoards of well-meaning ladies asking to hold her if she's comfortably asleep and under wraps)
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Happy to hear day one went so well!!!!
ReplyDeleteBrynn, you are such a rock star. Congrats to you!
