Boom!

Took Mr. Ben to go get weighed today, he gained 5.5 ounces in 6 days. Take that, LC lady!  He's up to 10 lbs 11.5 ounces. Next week we should be closing in on 11 pounds, woohoo! I didn't call the doctor's office in time to let them know before they closed for the day so I guess I'll have to call them tomorrow.

I have been trying to make sure he empties each breast, and even when he burps I put him back on the same one in hopes he can get the rest of the hind milk if there is any. Nursing sessions last a little longer but I think it will be worth it.

Thanks for all of your support, ladies. It's so awesome that people that I don't even know in real life can be helpful and encouraging.

Also. I know I complain about D on here a lot.  I really do try to love on him as much as he'll let me and to do nice things for him, and to talk to him and listen (more with the listening than the talking) to him which I think are super important.  Teenagers are so hard. Here in 13 years or so we'll have a 13, 15, 17, and 18 year old in the house. Won't that be awesome?!?!?!  Our situation will be a bit different since they will pretty much have grown up in our home, but I'm sure they will have chips on their shoulders about other stuff and they will each have their challenges and struggles.

D's "godmother" (bio mom's best friend) emailed us asking if she can take him on a camping trip for a weekend. She has come to pick him up for a few hours a total of 3 times over the course of the last year. We're pretty uncomfortable with the idea of her picking him up on a Friday and not returning him until Sunday. We don't really know her and it's hard to put trust in someone who bio mom claims is her best friend.  So I think we are going to say no, but I'm not really sure of a graceful way to respond to her email.  We'll have to think and pray about it a little bit.  I told Brian I sort of wish we have obligations that weekend that we could just bow out gracefully, but he pointed out that she would probably just ask again another time.

Still no closing date on the house. The agent is not returning our phone calls and it is getting very very frustrating.  If this falls through we are kind of going to be screwed unless we can find another home and close in the next 7-8 weeks. Yikes.

  1. I do agree on the godmother, it's one thing to take him out to dinner(which would still be hard for me to allow) but just taking off for the weekend,no way!!

  3. Its a good idea just to go ahead and say that you are protective of D and that you would be uncomfortable having him go with someone you don't know. If she is a mother than you can tell her that as a mother you are SURE she understands. One uncomfortable email is better than having to do this over and over again. IMHO.
