What do you get when you have 3 sick kids over spring break?

Well first of all, you don't do any of the fun stuff you planned. Also you don't get very much done.  But there is extra TV watching, which I don't think anyone will complain about!

Ben was officially weaned about a week ago.  My body has finally adjusted I think. And of course C brought home some kind of cold/cough from school, and Ben and Y both caught it. Miraculously Miss M is still sickness-free; usually she is the first one to get sick and the last one to get well.  The poor boys are coughing up a storm and have tons of snot. Blech.  I will probably get sick when everyone is feeling better and back up to full speed, because that's what normally happens. :)

I had been hoping to take the kids to the zoo this week while C was out of school but I don't think that will happen now.

Had my 12 week appointment Monday, and my Mom came with me to hear the baby's heartbeat. I met with my OB for the first time, since I'm being co-managed by a midwife and an OB. She was very nice, and female which I so appreciate. I have nothing against men but I just don't think I could do it.

Anyway, baby sounded great. It was so funny, she said "Now sometimes it takes a while to find the baby this early, so don't be worried if I can't find the heartbeat right away" and as soon as she put the wand on my belly that little heart was just beating away. :)

She said we'll start progesterone shots in 4-6 weeks, and that hopefully my insurance will cover having a home health nurse come and give them to me at home. That would be awesome. Brian said he wouldn't mind giving them to me but I am pretty sure I couldn't do it for myself. I don't even know if I could do it for somebody else. Apparently progesterone is very thick and very painful.

She also said that I'll start being seen every 2 weeks around 20 weeks, and she said that I need to start being pretty careful around 20 weeks and don't do too much crazy stuff, just normal household maintenance but don't be moving things, cleaning out closets, anything out of the ordinary.  So that is going to be hard considering we will be trying to get ready for a baby! Plus the changing of the seasons and just life in general with 5 kids.  She mentioned too the possibility of having to be on bed rest if they determine there is a risk of labor starting early. That would be a nightmare, truly.

I'm a little nervous about it. I know everything will be fine in the end but I hope I don't have to be on bed rest and can just keep living a normal life!  We're trying to get the bedroom in the basement done, and once that is done D can move down there and Ben can move into D's room and I hope to be able to decorate Ben's room the way I had been wanting to. Not that it's a huge deal but it would also be nice to have a room to ourselves for a few months before baby comes too!  Oh and the estimate we got on finishing that part of the basement were WAY high, like twice as much as we were thinking. No way we can afford to pay cash for that (since we are debt free and plan to remain that way).  So we are going to do it ourselves but hire out a few of the things.  But of course that makes the timeline much longer, we can't just knock it out in a few days the way professionals could.

Our tax refund is going to be way more than we were thinking. Not that I had done the math on it, but I just guestimated what it would be and it is way more. It's enough that we can use it to buy a larger vehicle for us (a used one, of course).  I'm not sure what we are going to do yet.  We also sort of need a bigger table, the one we have seats 6.  Even with that I feel like C is practically sitting on my lap. I have personal space issues, I know.  Finding a larger table is a huge pain!  I did find one that comes with 8 chairs today for cheap, we'll see what the hubby says.  It even comes with a hutch which we don't really need. but we can store whatever in there (school books and supplies, even!).  More storage is pretty much always a good thing.

I guess that's it! Another long and boring post from yours truly. :p

  1. Glad you are getting a big return- you deserve it. I hadn't realized the kids were sick - hope it's all better now.
